Think Before You Tweet Go back to the previous page. My experience and the work done was exceptional. Debbie and Howard were easy to work with and the crew was friendly and professional. And now that the cold weather is here I can feel a tremendous difference in the warmth of the house. Would highly recommend.
Returns & Replacements $189.99 Ventilator King If your home is close to the cut-off between one region and another you may want to opt for a higher R-value than is necessarily required for your zone. Remember that the R-value rating is only as good as the quality of the installation.

Dishwasher Repair  Owens Corning’s unbonded loosefill insulation products (AttiCat®, ProCat®, PROPINK® L77) use materials that are in abundant supply and leverage high levels of recycled content. Sand is a major raw material in glass manufacturing and Owens Corning is committed to seek out sources in reasonable proximity to its operations. Purchasing recycled glass prevents material from being sent to landfill while serving as an outlet for glass that is no longer in service. Unbonded loosefill products use a negligible amount of organic inputs and therefore are exempt from the USDA organic certification requirement.

1. Tub & Shower i have 1500sq ft of attic space. thier is very little insulation in thier now. i was told blown in cellulose is better than roll in insulation. is that true? which is better and cheaper and easier to put in myself.i know how to blow insulation but im confused whick one or the other would be energy efficient as well as savings for my home. i also have a full crawl space under my house. do i use roll in insulation or what? and how much would it take and cost in material?
To cut a batt to size, lay it on a piece of plywood. Then put a short length of 2×4 at the point where you want to cut, put your foot on the 2×4 and lean on it to compress the fiberglass. Once it’s compressed, it’s easy to cut with a utility knife.

Jenna Harris  Aluminum Gutters Robert K., Imperial, PA We are told, with very good reason, that insulation should have a vapor barrier on the warm side. Which is the warm side of the wall of a house? Obviously, it changes from summer to winter — even from day to night.
1. Concerning the R-value of the roof insulation: the first thing you should do is check local code requirements. I know that California’s Title 24 differs from codes used elsewhere in the U.S. You need to find out (1) Whether the code applies to your retrofit work, and (2) even if the code does not apply, what the code calls for in your climate zone. Personally, I wouldn’t want to install less than the minimum code requirement for ceiling insulation — and I would probably want to install more.

Howard and his men were very pleasant, professional, and efficient. They worked carefully and were also responsive to my suggestions or concerns about property and plantings. Insulating the second floor of my 1876 house with blown-in cellulose made a noticeable (and immediate) difference, which should translate into less energy + $$ used to heat our house. We thank Howard for a high quality of work and recommend his services to those in need.

If there is currently a floor in the attic, it will be necessary to pull up pieces of the floor to install the insulation. In this case, it will be easier to use a blower and loose-fill insulation to effectively fill the spaces between the joists. If you choose to go with blown-in insulation, you can usually get free use of a blower when you purchase a certain amount of insulation.

But I agree with Debra, that working on the garage ceiling could be more fruitful, if that’s the weak point. The cool thing about that is that there are no windows in it, so you don’t have the extra cost of doing that detail, and you don’t have the aesthetics of a window in a thick wall to consider.
